Group: Appalachian Mountain Club
When: Sunday, October 22, 10:30 am
Where: Bear Mountain Inn, NY
Join the AMC Young Members group for a popular New York hike up a small mountain that ends at-you guessed it-Oktoberfest! For the past 3+ years we (meaning Heeday) have been leading this trip, and want to keep the tradition going. You'll get great views of the Hudson Valley, fall foliage, and potentially even the NYC skyline. And of course, as a reward for your accomplishment, you'll get to replace all of those calories with beer, bratwurst, and Bavarian pretzels while listening to great German music.
It is a 6 mile hike with gradual but not insignificant elevation gain (~1,600'), so while you do not need to be an experienced hiker, you should be in decent shape. This will be mostly level terrain, but there is a small section of scrambling. We will aim to leave a 10:30am at the Bear Mountain Lodge and return from the Anthony Wayne recreation center to NYC at 5:30pm. The hike itself will not take that long, but we like to save a few hours at the end for you to enjoy Oktoberfest.
