Every camper’s nightmare: waking up to a bear biting down on your skull. It happened to a 19-year-old camp counselor sleeping near Glacier View Ranch northwest of Denver last weekend. Luckily, after waking up to a “crunching sound” and a black bear’s jaws clamped around his head, the teen was able to fight off the bruin. This type of predatory behavior is very rare in black bears, so Colorado wildlife officials have set traps and are searching for the attacking bear.
