Amboy Crater

Amboy Crater epitomizes Mojave Trails National Monument.

Amboy Crater, an extinct cinder cone volcano off Interstate 40, is a local attraction for its barren, black landscape. But without adequate preparation (including a lot of water), hiking it can be dangerous. Gen Miake, 60, and Kathie Barber, 58, of Yorba Linda, were found by a helicopter crew that responded to a 911 call.
