Most thru-hikers pack a camera. But on her PCT hike, Lindsey “Miyagi” Fox packed watercolors and stayed in touch with friends and family by mailing them paintings. “I immediately started to think of it as more of a project or an artist residency,” says Fox. “I came to the decision early on to take those beautiful moments during our hike to paint as much as possible, even when we started to do bigger mile days.” Follow the artist through her hike, from Mexico to Canada, through these images.
