11 Haunted Trails
This trail is so haunted that Big Ridge State Park went ahead and named it accordingly. Hikers near the historic Hutchinson compound still claim to hear the panting of an approaching dog (though none can ever be found). Even spookier still, the ghostly silhouettes of family are said to appear in any photographs taken at the family cemetery. [image: Dieter Weinelt / Flickr]
The Best Ghost Town Hikes in the U.S.
Browsing moose have replaced teams of loggers on Hobo Creek, but artifacts remain to tell the cultural history of the area. Hikers can see a steam donkey, ruined splash dams, and old logging camp foundations on the 2-mile Hobo Historical Trail. [image: Kendra Schotzko/Flickr]
