Just when we're all ready to embrace warmer weather, the first intense trailer for the star-studded Everest shows up to give you a chill:
The film is based on the disastrous 1996 expedition that killed eight climbers, made famous by Jon Krakauer's book Into Thin Air. At the time, it was the single deadliest event in the mountain's history.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Brolin will star as Scott Fischer and Beck Weathers, respectively. The cast also includes Jason Clarke, Keira Knightley, John Hawkes, Sam Worthington, and Emily Watson.
In light of the recent tragedy in Nepal (as well as 2014's deadly avalanche), Everest will likely need to tread a fine line when it comes to marketing a disaster as mass entertainment. The film's official website includes a link for donating to ongoing relief efforts in Nepal.
The movie is scheduled to hit theaters September 18.
