The American Hiking Society just announced the date for National Trails Day: June 4, 2011. Why should you be excited? Because this is like a birthday party for trails and wilderness—and no matter where you live in the country, something righteous is going down.

This year’s slogan is “Made With All Natural Ingredients,” which, missing hyphen aside, sounds a lot like they’ve been taken over by Nature Valley. No matter: Here’s what AHS has to say about it:

The theme for National Trails Day 2011, Made With All Natural Ingredients, encourages all Americans to get outside, connect with local outdoor clubs, businesses, community groups, and parks and recreation departments as well as federal land managing agencies to experience, appreciate and celebrate the natural places where we can find a spread of scenery, a plateful of peace, and a heap of happiness and health.

Save the date, Saturday, June 4, 2011 to participate in a local hike, bike, horseback ride, maintenance project, paddle trip, health fair, and more.

Consider it saved. What do you have planned for National Trails Day? Check the AHS site, Let fly in the comments section below.
