This year, the best fall music festival might happen on a boat. Musicians including Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker, KT Tunstall, Martha Wainwright, Leslie Feist, and Vanessa Carlton will join a boatload of artists, filmmakers, media mavens, and other influencers aboard the Cape Farewell expedition to Greenland.
These arists will accompany climate scientists and researchers on a voyage to the aptly-named Disko Bay, on Greenland's west coast. The project is the brainchild of artist David Buckland, and it's meant to inspire the creative types in attendance to respond to what they see in their future work.
Other cultural cognoscenti onboard include Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan Lori-Parks, performance artist Laurie Anderson, TreeHugger founder Graham Hill, former Teen People editor Lori Majewski, and Academy Award-winning composer Ryuchi Sakamoto. Also, beatbox performer and Bjork collaborator Schlomo will be in attendance.
Personally, I can't wait to hear what beatbox masterwork climate change inspires Shlomo to make. Beatboxing needs its own Sgt. Pepper's bad.
