Why we like it This cuddly, 700-fill DownTek sack for two actually packs to a reasonable size.
Comfort There are no zippers; this is a quilt with a footbox. Your sleeping pads (any standard 20-by-72-inch pads will do) slip into a 15-inch-deep footbox, while a 7-inch blanket fold at the neck provides a nice swath of down to snuggle up to. (Recommended splurge: The $50 slipcover eliminates gapping between pads.) “I’ve zipped bags together for years with my wife, and sometimes those feel a bit awkward. With the NEMO, we didn’t have to choose which footbox to share, plus there was room for our four-month-old son between us,” said one tester after a long weekend in the northern Sierras.
Warmth The bag proved true to its temp rating, thanks to shoulder-to-knee extension flaps on the outside edges that tuck under pads and a detachable “hood.” “It’s not much more than a giant rectangle that covers our heads, but it’s surprisingly effective,” says a Colorado tester. “We slept in just baselayers on a near-freezing night on Mt. Sherman, and we never got chilled.”
