Our take Our testers who have plantar fasciitis—poor things—loved these sock-like compression sleeves. Stretchy “massage zones” over the plantar and Achilles compress problem areas, which CEP claims breaks up scar tissue and increases blood flow. We noticed less pain on trail runs and backpacking trips with 30-pound loads. Our style: Wear the sleeve next to skin and put a regular hiking sock on top. (While our testers reported that they could feel the sleeve underneath, it didn’t affect shoe fit.) Note: Of course, this is not an alternative to standard medical treatment.
Trail cred “I was able to do a 10-mile section of the CDT without resorting to walking on my tip-toes,” says our tester.
