Question:

Camping in bear country with children and diapers: Do diapers inside the tent, wet or dry, attract bears?

Submitted by – Kathleen, El Cerrito, CA

Answer:

Stephen Herrero, considered a bear expert if there ever was one, says that human excrement and urine may attract bears and should not be anywhere near your campsite.

I’m sure he would include stuff clinging to diapers. About unused diapers, I can only guess. If they are fragrance-free, my guess is that they are no more attractive than your underwear.
