What can my husband and I do to protect our wedding rings when we are backpacking?
Submitted by – Cynthia – Boston, MA
The best way to protect your wedding rings is to leave them at home. Thats what I typically do when I go backpacking. Rough surfaces can scratch the rings finish, and youd be bumming if any of the settings come loose and a diamond goes missing. Wearing rings while scrambling or climbing or bushwhacking can put your fingers at risk, too. Its conceivable that something could get caught on your ring and break your finger.
If youre the type who feels naked without your ring, you could try wrapping it with medical or duct tape. Ive tried that, but I dont like the sticky, sweaty feeling. I feel much safer and more responsible leaving my rings at home.
