I'm looking for a lightweight cold pack to carry on backpacking trips that will keep my insulin cold. What do you recommend?

Question:

I’m a Type 1 diabetic and I’m looking for a lightweight cold pack to carry on backpacking trips that will keep my insulin cold. What do you recommend?

Answer:

Portable Dia-Pak pouches (medicool.com) contain a gel pack that can be frozen before a trip. The nylon pouch holds the gel pack, the insulin, and the syringes in once place. How long the gel remains cold enough to preserve your med depends on the ambient temp.
