2-Person Tent Reviews

Vargo No-Fly

Best livability

Brand: Vargo

Model: No-Fly

Our take For a shelter this light, the two-person No-Fly offers a ton of space: Its 86-inch length, 43-inch peak height, and gigantic 34-square-foot floor provided plenty of room for tentbound testers. “The elbowroom was amazing when we were shut in during an all-day rainstorm in Denali National Park,” one reports. Credit the near-vertical side walls for the extra interior roominess and two extra-large, 34-inch-wide doors and vestibules (9 square feet each) for easy ingress and egress. Caveat: price.

The details Carbon poles shave weight (but add cost). The hybrid single-/double-wall design—it has mesh walls connected to a 20-denier nylon fly—pitches easily while protecting the interior from the elements (the No-Fly is freestanding). But it also made for copious condensation during rainstorms, even with a large vent on the ceiling.

Trail cred “The 20-denier nylon floor seemed flimsy, but we pitched this tent on multiple surfaces—including the worst jagged shale Denali could throw at us—and it stayed strong throughout,” said one tester of the nylon weave (it uses a thicker material than normal).
