The midsole is the right blend of cushion and support for both trail and concrete. The dual-density EVA cushioning absorbed the pounding of long runs on concrete, and the TPU rock plate kept us stable when off-camber on trail runs.
The dual-layer mesh upper provided enough ventilation to keep us going in 100°F temps in Northern California, and the synthetic material dried quickly after the sweet relief of the occasional creek crossing.
Shallow lugs make running on flat surfaces more comfortable. They gripped well on packed dirt and rock, even on steep inclines, but they struggled in deep mud.
“Even after more than 100 miles of trail and road running, the midsole isn’t breaking down at all and there’s barely any wear in the upper,” one tester says. Chalk it up to the thick outsole rubber and the upper’s partial laminate overlay, which protects the mesh.
