Tecnica Cochise Light Pro Ski Boots

It’s the closest you’ll get to an alpine boot that can really tour.

Brand: Tecnica

Model: Cochise Light Pro

Downhills “It feels more like a dedicated alpine boot than an AT model,” says one tester, who enjoyed total control over his skis whether he was plowing through spring slush or carving resort hardpack. But the unusually long boot sole length (310 mm for size 26) feels cumbersome when bootpacking and scrambling, and it’s a bit heavy for double-digit mileage.

Walk mode On some downhill-oriented AT boots, the walk mode offers laughably little articulation. But with 30 degrees of motion, the Cochise let testers scale steep slopes. Interchangeable soles adapt to traditional alpine and tech-style bindings.

$850; 7 lbs. 8 oz. (26.5); tecnicausa.com
