Sunski Olema
Bargain
Brand: Sunski
Model: Olema
Our take New Sunski frames, same Sunski price. We’ve loved this brand since its Kickstarter launch in 2012—when it committed to rolling out polarized sunglasses at bargain basement prices. (Sunski melds a softer, cheaper lens material than most brands use with its proprietary protective layer to keep prices down.) This season, we get three new styles, including our favorite, the Olema. The small, round lenses are great for hikers with small faces (or hikers trying to channel John Lennon). The emerald-colored lens performed well in most conditions, but don’t expect world-class clarity at sub-$60. Feel-good bonus: Sunksi is a 1% for the Planet member, meaning it donates at least 1 percent of all its revenue to green initiatives.
Trail cred “I’ve worn a lot of cheap, drug store shades, and usually they’re like looking through a dirty window,” says our digital editor. “These have that same classic styling I like, but they perform well enough for everything from kayaking in Maine to rock climbing in Colorado.”
