Fit “The best-fitting women’s shell pants I’ve ever worn, no contest,” raves one of our most experienced testers. These Stio Environ Pants are cut full enough in the seat and thighs to accommodate ski muscles, but tapered through the rest of the leg so we didn’t feel like we were wearing burlap sacks. The articulated knees and a gusseted crotch let us “sidestep up steep, 75-foot pitches without constraint,” reports a tester. Guys: The men’s version also has a streamlined, functional fit.

Breathability The three-layer Dermizax fabric impressed testers so much, they opted for the waterproof Environs over softshell pants even on clear-sky ski tours. Testers loved the 14-inch-long thigh vents.

 Features Men’s and women’s have a yoked waist (shaped fit over the hips) and Velcro adjustment tabs to dial in fit. The women’s also have darts (tucks in the fabric) for more shape.
