Socks Review: Darn Tough Socks

Socks so darn perfect they can make a thief out of your dearest friend

Just another pair of pricey merino/synthetic hiking socks? That’s what we thought until one tester caught her hiking partner trying to steal them from her clothes bag. Other testers also became attached. Why? They wick moisture and dry as well as any we’ve tried, and the durability and staying power are as good as the name implies. The socks never bagged around the ankles or stretched in the toes, and the dense knit provided long-lasting cushion. Even after multiple days hiking through swampy grassland in New Zealand on a month-long journey during which our tester alternated between just two pairs, the socks only needed a good cleaning to look new. We prefer the Hike/Trek model.
