Sleeping Bag Review: Mountain Hardwear Trekker

This furnace comes in a small package, but substitute your own stuff sack.

Highs

Warmth Only the Sierra Designs was warmer.

Loft The test bags lost very little loft after months of use and multiple washings.

Shell The ripstop nylon shell’s DWR kept frost at bay in Utah’s Canyonlands.

Compressibility Great warmth and loft, yet barely more bulky than the Moonstone.

Lows

Qualitycontrol A production bag was under filled and chilly. The replacement was fine.

Sizing The smallish hood felt constricting, and the bag runs just a bit short and tight.

Draft collar There is none, which makes it difficult to seal in heat on cold nights.

Stuff sack It’s too large to reap the rewards of the bag’s great compressibility.

Price: $135

Sizes: 3 lengths

Weight: 2 lbs. 15 oz.
