Seirus Range LX

Warmest glove

Brand: Seirus

Model: Range LX

Our take You need worst-case-scenario weather to truly test a worst-case-scenario glove, and that’s exactly what we got on a ski trip to the Freshfield Icefield in Banff National Park, with a storm that brought subzero temps and winds gusting to 70 mph. Our tester’s best-case scenario: He had these gloves. The Range LX’s generously sized cuff—slightly longer than the Gordini’s—sealed out wind and spindrift, while 300 grams of synthetic PrimaLoft Gold fought off the cold. Seirus’s DryHand membrane is designed to keep the glove from wetting out, though we didn’t need it in Banff’s cold alpine climate.

Trail cred “The gloves looked like overkill, but thanks to their flexy softshell-and-goatskin construction, they felt surprisingly nimble,” our tester says. “I was able to tech ski bindings and open small buckles on my pack.”
