Sea to Summit Flame FmIII
Women's pick
Our take Most gear categories have good women’s options, but choices in premium sleeping bags remain sparse. The Flame helps fill that void: It’s narrower in the shoulders (59-inch circumference), wider in the hips (56 inches), and shorter (5’7” for the regular) than regular mummies, which earned high praise. “It fit every part of my body perfectly,” one tester says. Sea to Summit rounds out the comfort with extra down in the hood and footbox; our tester was never cold during 12 nights in Idaho’s Sawtooths and Washington’s Alpine Lakes Wilderness with lows in the 20s.
The details Thanks to 850-fill down, a 10-denier nylon shell, and a wispy 7-denier liner, the Flame FmIII comes in at a svelte pound and a half (impressive considering the EN rating equivalent for a men’s bag is close to 14°F). It packs down to the size of a volleyball.
Trail cred “I loved this bag’s loft —I’d pull it out of its stuffsack and it would puff up like a marshmallow in the microwave,” one tester says.
