Versatility On a gusty, -5°F ski day in Banff, our tester stayed toasty thanks to the three-layer, windproof construction. Yet while touring the backcountry in 35°F sun near Kamloops, British Columbia, she enjoyed adequate breathability (the generous, 11-inch-long thigh vents helped). Snow and sleet bounced right off the DWR-treated fabric. But the butt area sometimes absorbed moisture during wet lift rides (it didn’t compromise waterproofness; our tester remained dry inside).
Fit & Features Mechanical stretch (it uses no spandex, which can add weight and slow drying times), the soft Toray Delfy fabric, and an ample cut through the thighs and hips let testers hike and schuss without feeling confined. Gals wished for an additional cargo pocket (which is included on the men’s version, pictured).
Durability Cordura scuff panels toughen the cuffs, but after a full season of use in Alaska, they suffered a few tiny crampon punctures.
