Rei Co-op Flash Carbon
The best overall trekking poles of 2021.
While it might not be as eye-catching as other poles on this list, the Flash Carbon does everything well. Its lightweight carbon construction supported our weight and reduced vibrations while we scrambled through rocky terrain on Dragon and Independence Peaks in California’s Sierra National Forest. The three-section, telescoping shaft has more than 10 inches of adjustability—the most of any pole in the test—which is great for switching between multiple users or adapting to roller-coaster trails. The Flash Carbon’s external locks utilize a plastic body with aluminum levers for durability and easy on-the-go adjustments, even with gloves on. We also liked the silky interior of the wicking, adjustable nylon wrist straps.
