Most bags have options in terms of length, but it’s rare to find one that has an option for extra side-to-side roominess. Enter the 650-fill duck down Radiant Long and Wide, which has a generous 70 and 66 inches of girth around the shoulders and hips, respectively. “I’m usually straitjacketed in mummies, but this bag has luxurious space, and I slept comfortably all night,” says our broad-shouldered, 6-foot tester. “I stayed toasty on an exposed bivy on the snow-covered summit of California’s San Jacinto with temps in the low 20s,” he says. The DWR-treated shell repels wet snow, and the 50-denier ripstop nylon earned high durability scores: It showed no wear after being dragged across Joshua Tree’s rugged desert terrain. Despite the extra girth, testers could still compress the bag to volleyball-size (with a non-included compression sack). Bummer: Breathability is only mediocre, and on warmer nights, the ¾-length zipper doesn’t allow for enough ventilation to compensate. $219; 3 lbs.; 20°F; rei.comExtra roomy bag for those who need rook to move or don’t fit in typical mummy bags.
