This pair of pants, sewn from recycled nylon fabric with UPF 50+ and PFC-free DWR—and a touch of spandex for stretch—was the key to our comfort on hikes with varying conditions, such as a climb of Colorado’s 14,150-foot Mt. Sneffels. “I was sweating in 80°F heat, yet my bottom half remained cool because the pants wicked so well,” one tester says. By the time he reached the top and temps dropped to 45°F, he didn’t get cold because the material had drawn all moisture off his skin. In addition to the standard front and rear pockets, a 4.5-inch, zippered right leg pocket stashes goodies such as stroopwafels.
