Pallas Girl Scout

Women’s pick from the Fall/Winter 2018 Gear Guide.

Brand: Pallas

Model: Girl Scout

This all-around workhorse was a hit with female testers. With 75 percent of the torsional stiffness of a comparable men’s board, the Girl Scout grants better edge control for lighter-weight riders. Blunt tips and early rise in the nose allow it to stay on top of the snow exceptionally well while skinning, and it glided through deep drifts with ease. “No camber underfoot means full contact without much pressure on uphills,” says our Wasatch-based tester.

THE DETAILS

Polyethylene thermoplastic on the inside edges gives the Girl Scout a damper flex that’s less twitchy and rigid than the over-sprung stiffness of steel, while still holding just as much bite on icy slopes. The mounts are set back 2 centimeters to help riders surf above powder and cruddy snow.

TRAIL CRED

“This board’s versatility handled abrupt snow transitions in icy Wasatch couloirs seamlessly,” one tester says.
