Outdoor Research Lodestar Sensor

Backcountry rippers dug this versatile glove.

Brand: Outdoor Research

Model: Lodestar Sensor

Versatility  A good thing just got a little better: Outdoor Research took its Lodestar glove (winner of a 2013 Editors’ Choice award) and added a leather palm and fingers (touchscreen-compatible) and improved articulation. “The leather palm is supple and provides a great hold on ski poles, ice axes, and ropes,” says a tester who guides in British Columbia’s Selkirk Mountains. Credit Outdoor Research’s 3D fit technology, which is designed on a three-dimensional cast (rather than a standard flat). Note: They’re not waterproof.

Moisture Management Our hardest-charging backcountry ski testers raved about the Lodestars’ ability to keep their digits dry. The Polartec Power Shield acts as a softshell for hands: It insulates, but still breathes well. XS-XL
