Montane Endurance Pro Mitt
Call it storm armor for your paws.
Brand: Montane
Model: Endurance Pro Mitt
Protection From hiking through a blizzard to skiing warm spring slop, these Montane overmitts kept our hands dry in conditions that would have soaked most gloves. On a spring skin up Colorado’s Loveland Ski Area, the mittens’ seam-taped, Gore-Tex construction kept wet snow out, while the internal leash loop and relaxed fit made it easy to slip them off for binding adjustments. When temps dipped into the 20s and the wind picked up, the Pro Mitts were a welcome extra layer on top of light gloves.
Versatility “The Endurance Pros were easy to pull on over my liners and were compact enough to stash in my thigh pockets,” says one tester. “Plus, there’s barely any weight penalty for bringing them as a bad-weather insurance policy.” The 70-denier Gore-Tex Pro (with rubbery hypalon reinforcements on the palms) easily fended off gales and ski edges. Caveat: They’re spendy. S-XL
