Marmot Misto

A touch of breathable insulation keeps you from getting chilled—or overheating—in cold conditions.

Insulation In frigid temps, you’ll face the winter warrior’s challenge: staying warm in stop-and-go activities without getting soaked in sweat. The Misto’s solution: Polartec Alpha, a synthetic insulation that breathes (we gave an Alpha-filled jacket an Editors’ Choice Snow Award last year), combined with Polartec’s highly breathable shell fabrics. A thin layer of Alpha warms your core (it’s in the front, chest to hem), while water-resistant Power Shield (sides and back) and waterproof NeoShell (hood, shoulders, arms) provide protection. “The extra warmth was welcome when icy wind would have left me shivering in a lesser jacket,” says a tester.

Weather Protection The thin, breathable fabric on the front enhances the performance of Alpha, but it’s not as weather-resistant as the rest of the jacket—making the Misto best for snow, not rain. Ding: weight.
