Durability The waxed canvas packbag proved rhino-tough. “I dragged this pack through the sandstone narrows of Antelope Canyon on an Arizona climbing trip,” says our tester. “I wore a hole in my shoe and broke my shades, but the pack breezed through without a blemish.” Bummer: The tough fabric is a dust magnet.
Comfort The pack’s tapered shape keeps heavier items centered in the mid-back and results in a wiggle-free, stable carry. “The lightly padded hipbelt keeps it comfortably snugged up against my lumbar,” reports our tester, “and a plastic framesheet with waffle-pattern cushioning manages a 25-pound load.”
Loading The V-cut packbag is shaped like an inverted tear-drop—with an exceptionally wide top-opening that makes it easy to load, unload, and rummage through.
