This affordable top makes sweat disappear.
Brand: Mammut
Model: Go Dry Longsleeve
Wicking “Whether I was running in mild weather, getting sweaty on a bootpack, or touring on a sunny, 50°F spring day, this top kept me dry,” reports a Colorado tester of this 93-percent polyester, 7-percent elastane layer. The Go Dry owes its superior wicking to an interior waffle construction that mechanically pulls moisture off your skin quickly and channels it to the shirt’s surface. The result: “This felt drier—even while I was sweating—than any shirt I’ve ever worn,” reports a veteran tester after steep skinning sessions in British Columbia.
Stink resistance One tester packed the Go Dry on a business trip from Colorado to Chicago to London, running hard every day and stuffing it in her suitcase in between. “Eight days, no smell,” she marveled. A silver-ion finish keeps bacteria from getting a foothold on the fabric.
Breathability “Once you take off your outer layers, you can feel it dump heat,” says a backcountry skier. It’s not too warm for shoulder-season hiking.
Fit The Go Dry’s sleeves never bunched at the elbow (credit a unique seam pattern that maximizes shoulder mobility and prevents the sleeves from riding up) and the hem is cut long enough to keep testers’ lower backs covered when bending over. It’s form-fitting, but the elastane provides mobility-preserving stretch.
