LOWA Aerox GTX Mid Surround
Most Breathable
Brand: Lowa
Model: Aerox GTX Mid Surround
Our Take A dry foot stays warm and blister-free, the main reason our testers wore the Aerox GTX when they wanted to go fast on dayhikes or under a light pack. The boot’s Gore-Tex Surround technology pumps sweat vapor out through ventilation channels in the midsole, while also locking out snowmelt; that, combined with a light microfiber-and-mesh upper, kept us dry and comfortable on high-octane outings. “Even when running downhill I didn’t experience any excessive heat buildup,” one Colorado tester says. Caveat: The Aerox GTX isn’t insulated, making it best for high-output days or milder temps.
The Details A narrow fit (more like a running shoe) provides more foot control, and the soft mid-height cuff allowed our ankles to articulate freely. LOWA’s dual-density PU midsole flexed along with our foot, making for a comfortable ride. PU reinforcement on the mesh upper enhanced durability without compromising flexibility.
Trail Cred “The Aerox GTX felt like an extension of my foot on the uneven terrain of Rocky Mountain National Park,” one tester says.
