Lightweight Roller

If you want to travel a bit lighter but not sacrifice roller convenience, this is your bag. The Ultraflight 115 holds enough gear for a multisport extravaganza, yet it weighs less than six pounds. The HDPE framesheet and 100mm wheel assembly proved plenty tough, even when we bumped it rudely down cobblestone streets in Chamonix and wheeled it through the gritty sands of Hole-in-the-Rock Road on a basecamping trip in Escalante. Not surprisingly, the lightweight 210-denier nylon has a few raw spots on the sides after rough treatment by baggage handlers in half a dozen airports, but the wear isn’t alarming. The internal compression system keeps gear stable in transit and takes strain off the light-duty zippers. $170; 7,000 cu. in.; 5 lbs. 14 oz.; granitegear.com. Reader service #114
