Klymit Sky Bivy

Best weather protection

Brand: Klymit

Model: Sky Bivy

4lbs. 11oz.

Our take No need to ditch your hammocking plans when the weather looks bleak. The Sky Bivy has a polyester rainfly that can be cinched up or down to match the conditions. Six anchor points and clips at the head and foot mean users can batten down the hatches during squalls for best-in-category weather protection. “I closed the fly down during a windstorm and rocked a bit, but I stayed completely dry,” said one Colorado tester after a night with 30-mph gusts. Caveat: weight. (In fair weather, you can shed the rainfly and stakes to bring the Sky Bivy down to 2 pounds, 9 ounces.)

The details Two spreader poles at the head and foot minimize the taco effect. Bummer: no bug protection.

Trail cred “I used the Sky Bivy for over a month of camping in the Colorado Rockies and other than some color fading, the 70-denier fabric doesn’t show any signs of wear,” says our tester.
