Karakoram Prime Connect-CI

Best snowboard and splitboad bindings from the Fall/Winter 2018 Gear Guide.

Brand: Karakoram

Model: Prime Connect-CI

None

For split-curious riders who want to experience the magic of splitboarding but don’t want to shell out for dedicated bindings, the Connect-Ci offers the comfort and responsiveness of a resort binding, but is fully functional as a backcountry touring setup.

THE DETAILS

A full-length EVA footbed provides more cushioning than regular split- board bindings, which our testers appreciated when lapping Colorado’s Loveland Ski Area. A recycled carbon fiber composite material in the Connect-Ci’s chassis sidewalls and highbacks is stronger and lighter than regular plastic for more responsive turns. Cool: Karakoram eliminated sharp corners to keep snow from get- ting jammed in the system.

TRAIL CRED

“This binding saved me on a late-season traverse through Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountains,” one tester says. “I was able to transition quickly without scrap- ing ice out of the interface, allowing me to keep up with my group of skier friends.”

Weight: 1 lb. 12 oz. (M)
