Jetboil Genesis Base Camp System

Car Camping

Brand: Jetboil Camping Stove Reviews

Model: Genesis

Why we like it: This smart design takes up less room and lets us do more at once.

Storage: The folding stove had one tester swooning about how easily the Genesis fits in her camper van. The whole system—including a 5-liter pot, lid, ceramic-coated fry pan, and extra burner (see below)—packs into an 8.5-inch- tall, 11-inch-diameter case.

Connections: The optional Luna Satellite Burner (right side above; $60; 6.8 oz.; pot not included) links in to run a personal cook system off the same propane. “You can cook a huge breakfast for six+ people and make coffee at the same time,” our tester raves. Or use a JetLink hose ($40; 9.5 oz.) to connect a second Genesis or a stove from sister brand Eureka for mega feasts from one fuel source.

Performance: The Genesis uses the same fine-tunable regulator as Jetboil’s 2015 Editors’ Choice Award-winning MiniMo. We found the burners easy to clean, the piezo lighter consistent, and the pot’s heat exchanger efficient. Biggest downside: Price. You can buy just the stove for $240, but it’s the full package that truly shines.
