Brand: High Sierra
Model: Karadon 55 Backpack
Cleaning your pack takes time and effort. Or, it used to. With the Karadon, we could quickly strip off our sweat-stained hipbelt, shoulder straps, and lumbar pad and pop them in the wash. After more than a dozen cycles, the straps retained their original shape and showed no signs of pilling.
“This top-loading pack seemed much roomier than any 55-liter pack I’ve carried,” says one tester who stuffed it up with glamping gear—including a Dutch oven, two bottles of champagne, flutes, and double sleeping pad and bag—for a long weekend. A spacious, removable lid (doesn’t convert into a daypack) held one tester’s birding book, scope, and puffy. The pack carries 40 pounds comfortably.
A variety of straps let us lash poles (on the front) and sleeping pad (underneath), but they tuck away to prevent snagging and clutter when we didn’t need them.
