GoLite Women's Adventure 4 Season Mummy

A toasty, big and tall bag with a recycled nylon shell

Brand: GoLite

Model: Women's Adventure 4 Season Mummy

Best for Big Guys

If you love the hyper-efficient, heat-trapping design of mummy bags, but think they feel like coffins come too soon (that’s you, big guys), this is your sack. Its unusually roomy girth starts wide at the shoulders (68 inches) and stays XXL through the hips and feet. One six-footer bivouacked in the snow before an alpine start in California’s Trinity Alps and says, “I slept in all of my layers without compromising the bag’s warmth or loft, or feeling claustrophobic, and stayed warm down to 10°F.”

Plenty of 650-fill down, a fat draft collar, and tight-cinching hood (our tester’s favorite feature) lock in the heat. A full-length, well-insulated draft tube blocked any cold seep at the zipper, and the bag’s Tier 1 recycled nylon shell (see page 20) is weather-resistant. “It repelled light moisture,” our tester says, “and even when the footbox exterior got reasonably soaked, I couldn’t tell from inside the bag.”

Gripe: Testers wanted an interior pocket for things that needed to stay warm (like contact lens solution). And beware cold-sleepers and skinny folks: You might have trouble heating up this king-size bed. $300; 3 lbs. 10 oz.; 10°FShell fabric is 100% recycled 50 denier polyester
