OUR TAKE Same great Sunski price—but more protection. That’s what you get with the Treeline, the company’s most technical option to date. Its aviator-style frames are made with a flexy polymer that bends without breaking and pairs with dark-gray, polarized lenses. But the special sauce here is a pair of removable, perforated side panels that transform the glasses into glacier goggles. They supplied enough wind and glare protection for ski touring missions in Rocky Mountain National Park. Of course, at this price, you don’t get perfection: The lenses are too dark for low-light conditions, and the screw between temple and frame had to be tightened a couple of times over a season of testing.

TRAIL CRED “Magnetic connection points on the side shields keep them flush against the temples and always held secure, even on a windy climb up 12,324- foot Flattop Mountain,” one editor says.
