Gear Review: Wigwam Weather Shield Sock
Bargain socks that are warm and resilient.
[bargain]
Don’t let the price fool you: These socks are warm, wick well, and hold up to repeated washings without pilling or losing loft. Our tester paired them with midweight boots for hiking and snowshoeing and says, “These snug-fitting socks kept their shape, so they never bunched or caused irritation.”
They’re made from a blend of nylon, soft merino, and Outlast acrylic, which absorbs body heat while you’re working hard and releases it when you stop. Our tester says: “My normally sweaty feet stayed warm and dry, even when I was winter fishing in a pair of nonbreathable waders.” Bonus: With a tall crew height (eight inches), these socks won’t fall short of the tops of winter boots. $12; 3.2 oz.
