Gear Review: Stoic Luft 60 Anorak Pullover

A bullet-proof pullover that doesn't add pounds.

[tough and light]

“I beat this pullover up and it never flinched,” reported one tester after a winter in the Rockies and Southwest. The synthetic fill and Pertex Quantum shell fabric handled a wide range of temps and conditions, from spitting days in the 40s to blustery winds into the teens (when layered under a shell). It also weathered plenty of close scrapes with abrasive rock in canyon country. The sternum-length snap closure (no zippers to snag or break) allows decent venting for active use, as do the breathable Polartec Power Stretch side panels. The roomy cut makes it easy to pull on, and it squishes down to water-bottle size. Gripe: The hood fits a helmet, but flops around without one. $159; 11.5 oz. (m’s L); m’s S-XXL; w’s XS-XL; backcountry.com
