Gear Review: Ryders Cypress Sunglasses

Get great vision at all light levels with these killer deal shades from Ryders.

[polarized bargain]

High-quality polarized shades don’t have to cost a fortune. The Cypress features a gray-tinted, polarized, polycarbonate lens that’s clear, sharp, and distortion-free because the lens has a tapered construction—it’s thicker in the center and grows thinner toward the edges. “The medium-size frame matches up perfectly with my cheekbones,” says one tester, “so not an iota of light seeps in.”

Testers also praised the Grilamid TR-90 (a flexible, durable nylon) frame, which rides lightly on the face for all-day comfort. “I’m one of those people with really sensitive eyes,” says one tester. “I wear my shades all day, everyday, even when it’s overcast or rainy. The gray lens was perfect for cutting glare without being so dark that my vision was impeded.” Sticky hydrophilic nose pads keep the Cypress from slipping even during high exertion. $80 polarized, $50 non-polarized; 1.1 oz.; ryderseyewear.com
