Gear Review: Platypus Sprinter X.T. 35.0

A hearty hydration pack that's also water resistant.

Brand: Platypus

Model: Sprinter X.T. 35.0

Weight

1lbs. 8oz.

Verdict
This is a lot of pack for the money. First, it’s all but submersible with PU-coated ripstop nylon, taped seams, and water-resistant zippers. (I hiked all day through relentless drizzle and not a drop made it inside.) Second, the hardy suspension system (a removable framesheet with single stay and body-wrapping hipbelt and shoulder straps) managed loads up to 25 pounds. Third, the top-loading packbag gave me access to a cavernous single compartment, while five exterior pockets kept me organized. And fourth, it comes with a 3-liter hydration system (a $25 value) that stashes in its own pocket, so it’s accessible without unloading the pack. $160; 2 lbs. 14 oz. (S/M); 2 sizes; cascadedesigns.com

Best For
All-weather dayhikers and minimalist overnighters
