Gear Review: Patagonia Down Sweater

A sweet, packable puffy with big warmth

Patagonia’s Down Sweater is deceptive, in the best way. It packs down to grapefruit-size, yet pull it on and you feel instant heat. “It does exactly what a lightweight layering piece should do,” said our tester. “Envelop you in a near weightless cloud of immediate warmth.”

Credit 800-fill down and a wispy 22-denier (recycled) polyester shell fabric that doesn’t inhibit quick lofting. “It’s light enough that I won’t hesitate to pack it as a camp jacket for summer high-mountain trips, and it’s so trim that it also makes a great layering piece in deep cold,” says our tester. $200; 12 oz.
