Gear Review: Outdoor Research Lateral Dry Bag

A dry bag that doubles as a duffel.

All-purpose
It’s a drybag and a duffel. The Outdoor Research Lateral Dry Bag eliminates blind groping for gear by placing the seal laterally, so all contents in all parts are easy to see and reach. “Brilliant!” says our tester, who used the bags while sea kayaking in Fjordlands, New Zealand, and in Glacier Bay, Alaska. Bonus: Transparent windows (also placed laterally) let you eyeball contents without unbuckling the seal. Four sizes, up to 45 liters. $39 to $69; 8 oz. to 1 lb.; outdoorresearch.com
