Gear Review: Outdoor Research Banff Body Suit

When it's extra cold, don this full body baselayer by Outdoor Research.

Warmest

“It’s the ultimate baselayer for extra-cold expeditions,” says our tester after living in this suit for 60 days straight in Antarctica. Made of Polartec Power Stretch with a lighter fleece across the back for extra breathability, it fits like a second skin.

A full-length front zip lets you ventilate, thumb loops prevent gaps at the wrists, and the crowning glory: A front-to-back zip lets you do your business without exposing everything to the deep freeze. Odor was minimal in the cold: “I hand-washed them every few weeks,” she says, “and they were fine.” The men’s Saturn has the same features in a farmer John (sleeveless) style. $199; 1 lb. 1oz.; men’s S-XL, women’s XS-XL; orgear.com
