Gear Review: Mountain Hardwear Boldog Glove
The perfect glove for those who demand everything.
[all-purpose]
Backcountry skiers have a demanding list of needs in a glove, and the Boldog strikes an ideal balance: warmth without major bulk, weatherproofing without clamminess, tough without being stiff. “The anatomically curved fingers and grippy leather held pole grips amazingly well,” says a Utah tester. The 30/70 wool/acrylic lining “warmed instantly when I slid my hands in them, and always felt dry to the touch, never sweaty,” he adds. “And over the course of a hard day, hands inevitably get wet, but I never had to fight to get the gloves on and off, since the liner is so smooth.” Dexterity assessment: You can’t work cordlocks, but you can manage Fastex buckles, loosen hipbelts, and stuff sleeping bags. $177; 9.6 oz.; (m’s XS-XL); mountainhardwear.com
