Gear Review: Mountain Hardware Gravitor/Sooka Jacket

A waterproof ski jacket that's warm as well.

[waterproof]

“My favorite ski jacket of the year,” says our tester after using it for 20-plus days in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Switzerland. Thanks to the seam-taped, waterpoof/breathable Conduit shell, she reports, “It was impervious to a sloppy slush-storm, and I kept skiing when my friends bailed because they were wet. And it has just the right amount of synthetic insulation that I could keep skiing all day in freezing temps, with just a baselayer and a light midlayer underneath.”

A below-the-hip cut, snug Lycra cuffs with thumb holes, and a great-fitting hood seal out the elements. Fit is superb—contoured but not constricting. Gravitor is the men’s version, Sooka (pictured) is the women’s. $250; 1 lb. 6 oz.; m’s S-XL, w’s XS-XL; mountainhardwear.com
