Gear Review: Marmot Rockstar Pant

Stretchy fabric and a clean, comfy cut make these hiking pants super-versatile.

“You don’t get a cleaner cut than the Marmot Rockstar Pant,” our tester declared after wearing them beneath a pack for three days straight in Colorado’s Park Range. The ultra-streamlined waistband is free of chafing belt loops, and is lined with smooth, moisture-wicking softshell fabric.

Even the two pockets and ankle openings are sleeker than average, since they feature concealed zippers. The fit is trim, but the four-way stretch (with 86 percent nylon, 14 percent elastane) and gusseted crotch allowed uninhibited movement. $90; 10 oz. (w’s M); marmot.com
